Leaving on a jet plane

We woke up at 3:00am to get a taxi to the airport at 4:00am in order to catch our 6:00am flight to Amsterdam. Here is Ricki in the waiting area at Newcastle Airport. The sun is just on the rise.


We had a 4.5 hour layover in Amsterdam so we had to occupy ourselves. Luckily the Rijksmuseum had a small display right in the airport so we got to view some art while we waited.


There was a visitor sign-in book so Ricki signed it to memorialise her trip!



We also spent some time looking around the shop but everything was very expensive - like usual in airports!



We spent the last 2 hours taking a nap at our gate. This was our plane waiting for us to board and take off for Detroit.


After waiting for what seemed like forever, we were finally in the air.


And finally after an epic 8 hour flight, we arrived into Detroit.


Total travel time = 23 hours
